Wednesday July 22

Today was a fun relaxed day. I slept in a little late so I only did a couple of miles this morning for my run. However it was a really beautiful morning and it felt really rejuvenating. After we had class and it was really interesting today. In my first class we learned about the history of the bible and its connection to the development of the English language. There were eight versions of the Bible and many of them were band because the monarch and the Catholic Church did not want them written in English. Many people sacrificed a lot for the English language. We learned that over 1000 people were burned at the stake between 1400 and 1557 for translating, reading or even owning a bible in English. Crazy! In my next class we learned about Gender differences in speaking English. This was really really funny. It really amuses me how different girls and boys can be. One interesting fact, we learned that it is harder it is harder to recognize/identify a female voice than a male voice.
After class we went and tried to get show tickets for tonight but the shows we wanted to see were sold out for the rest of the week. So we booked Mama Mia and the Lion King for next week. Then we did a little shopping and I found a few really cute outfits. Later tonight we went on the “Blood and Tears Walk” which was a tour of the backstreets of London. It told us stories about serial killers, hangings, exorcisms, and grave snatchers (all that fun jazz). It was a lot of fun. Before we went we stopped at Snog, our new favorite frozen yogurt joint. On the tube on the way there however we had a few really interesting stories… lets just say snogging gets us in trouble..and don’t talk to strangers late at night on the tube… (the pictures show us with our cool tour guide and also us terrified after our incident on the tube)
